The Season of Belonging began on November 18, 2019 and ended on January 12, 2020, lasting a total of 55 days. It was the third Seasonal Event in the Live version of Sky since the Global Release. The Season of Belonging succeeded the Season of Lightseekers and preceded the Season of Rhythm.
This holiday season was centered around a family of six Spirits trying to find their way home to the Belonging Guide.
Welcome[]
A family of six Spirits will make their way to the kingdom of Sky! The Spirits have been scattered across the Kingdoms of Sky, but now they need your help bringing the family back together. Why don’t you grab a friend or two and explore all six Sky kingdoms to discover where each Spirit went?
A number of changes were introduced with this season:
- Players no longer required the Adventure Pass to obtain 4 Daily Tasks
- The Seasonal Spirits arrived one by one into the realms once a week, rather than all at once. The previous Spirits remained as the new ones were added, so by the sixth week all six Spirits were present.
- Seasonal Hearts were introduced. At the end of each Spirit Friendship Tree (the highest node) players with the Adventure Pass could unlock a Seasonal Heart with a number of Seasonal Candles. This new currency was used to obtain the Ultimate Gift.
- One new area was added to every Realm except Daylight Prairie and Eye of Eden.
Newly Added Areas[]
The Season of Belonging brought 5 new areas, a Butterfly Cave in Isle of Dawn, the Underground Caverns in Hidden Forest, the Temple Maze in Valley of Triumph, the roasting crabs in Golden Wasteland and The Archives in Vault of Knowledge.
- The side-area in Isle of Dawn (to the right of the Temple) got updated to be more spacious, with a 2-player door, a small multiplayer door and various pots; the Butterfly Cave.
- A new area in Hidden Forest - the Underground Caverns. Found in Sunny Forest, the entrance needs two players to simultaneously use the "Angry" Expression on a trapdoor.
- A new area in the Temple of Valley of Triumph. The Spirit Gate at the entrance required players to have collected two other Belonging Seasonal Spirits at the time of the season.
- A new campfire with a rotating spit of roasting Crabs was added to Wasteland's Graveyard.
- A new area in the Vault of Knowledge - The Archives. To reach it, players would first need to open a 2-player door, and then pass through a Spirit Gate requiring the player to have collected one Regular Vault Spirit.
Butterfly Cave[]
The Butterfly Cave in the Isle of Dawn
The Butterfly Cave is a Seasonal area added to Isle of Dawn, introduced with the Season of Belonging in Patch 0.7.0. The only route to it is the cloud tunnel to the right of the Isle of Dawn Temple. This area updated the small Winged Light cave that existed before the Season, previously only holding a single Winged Light. With the introduction of Belonging, it updated the area with a 2-player door, inside having various Butterfly Pots and Light Buttons rising an elevator and opening the roof gate. This area holds the Boogie Kid, where you follow their memories around the cave.
Underground Caverns[]
The Underground Caverns in the Hidden Forest
The Underground Caverns is a Seasonal area added to the Hidden Forest, introduced with the Season of Belonging in Update 0.7.0. You can reach it through the Elevated Clearing, where a hollowed tree to the left of the bridge can be seen. Two players will be required to do the 
Angry Expression from the Pouty Porter, simultaneously opening a trapdoor down to the Caverns. The Underground Caverns is different from all the other locations players have seen, where they have to fall underground to enter the area. This area holds the Hairtousle Teen, where you follow their memories around the whole area.
The Temple Maze[]
The Temple Maze in the Valley of Triumph
The Temple Maze is a Seasonal area added to the Valley of Triumph, introduced with the Season of Belonging in Patch 0.7.0. You can reach this area by going to the Valley Temple, and heading to a hole in the wall to the left of the altar. The hole in the wall was blocked by a Spirit Gate, where during the season it required two (2) Belonging Seasonal Spirits, but now requires one (1) Regular Spirit from Wasteland - however the above entrance has no Spirit Gate. This maze is a multi-level, with an entrance gate on the left near the ground, and an exit up above, along the left-side wall as you enter. The Sparkler Parent is found here, where you follow their memories down the dark maze.
The Archives[]
The Archives in the Vault of Knowledge
The Archives is a Seasonal area added to the Vault of Knowledge, introduced with the Season of Belonging in Patch 0.7.0. This area can be found to the right of where the player spawns upon entering Vault, however, the entrance to the area is blocked by a 2-player trapdoor and a Spirit Gate requiring one (1) Regular Spirit from Vault. The Archives is a small area, surrounded by towering blocks with glyphs and floating crumbled structures. Within the blocks is a 3x3 maze, where a lightable diamond leads the way out. The Wise Grandparent can be found here, where you follow their memories through the flooded maze.
Daily Quests & Seasonal Candles[]
Daily Quests[]
Collect Seasonal Candles throughout the Season to trade with the new spirits for their cosmetics. A total of 6 seasonal candles were available to gather, as follows:
- Each day the Belonging Guide stood next to a Realm's portal, indicating where the day's daily quests could be completed. Players would earn one seasonal candle per quest completed. There were 4 quests in total. Players could claim their rewards by talking to the Belonging Guide. (4 candles)
- Players could collect an extra candle by collecting the 4 seasonal bunches found in the realm the Belonging Guide was standing next to. (more information on the "Seasonal bunches locations" below). (1 candle)
- Players who had the Adventure Pass could claim a Seasonal Candle at Home as a free daily bonus. (1 candle)

During the season, players could find Seasonal Candle bunches in 1 realm per day, excluding Isle of Dawn.
- Daylight Prairie: 4 around the Butterfly Fields
- Hidden Forest: 4 around the Underground Caverns
- Valley of Triumph: 4 spread around the the Temple Maze
- Golden Wasteland: 4 around the Graveyard
- Vault of Knowledge: 4 spread around the Archives Maze

All of the Season of Belonging Spirits can be found scattered around the 6 realms of Sky. There were 5 Expressions and 1 Stance to gather - overall, 6 spirits.

Boogie Kid[]
The Boogie Kid is a Seasonal Spirit from the Season of Belonging who offers the 
Boogie Dance Expression. The Boogie Kid is found in Isle of Dawn, before the gate of a butterfly cave in a cloud island to the right of the temple. The collectibles offered by this Spirit are an 
Outfit and a 
Mask.
Confetti Cousin[]
The Confetti Cousin is a Seasonal Spirit from the Season of Belonging who offers the 
Confetti Expression. The Confetti Cousin is found in Butterfly Fields on top of the round, hollow dome containing the Butterfly Charmer. The collectibles offered by this Spirit are a 
Hair and a 
Cape.
Hairtousle Teen[]
The Hairtousle Teen is a Seasonal Spirit from the Season of Belonging who offers the 
Hair Tousle Action. The Hairtousle Teen is found in the Underground Caverns in Hidden Forest, at the entrance from the Elevated Clearing, near the butterfly jars. The collectibles offered by this Spirit are a 
Face Accessory, the 
Ukulele Instrument, and the 
Music Sheet 12.
Sparkler Parent[]
The Sparkler Parent is a Seasonal Spirit from the Season of Belonging who offers the 
Sparkler Expression. The Sparkler Parent is found at the entrance of the maze in the Valley Temple. The collectibles offered by this Spirit are a 
Mask, a 
Hair, and a 
Pinwheel Prop.
Pleaful Parent[]
The Pleaful Parent is a Seasonal Spirit from the Season of Belonging who offers the 
Don't Go! Expression. The Pleaful Parent is found to the right of the slope at the entrance of the Graveyard, past the rock cliffs with a Child of Light and next to the Bonfire. The collectibles offered by this Spirit are a 
Mask, a 
Cape, and the 
Guitar Instrument.
Wise Grandparent[]
The Wise Grandparent is a Seasonal Spirit from the Season of Belonging who offers the 
Wise Stance. The Wise Grandparent is found on a square platform at the start of the The Archives in Vault of Knowledge. The collectibles offered by this Spirit are a 
Mask, a 
Cape, a 
Memory Lantern Prop, and the 
Music Sheet 11.
Belonging Guide[]
The Belonging Guide (also known as Grandma) is a Seasonal Guide from the Season of Belonging who offered cosmetics and no Quests. The Belonging Guide was only found at Home during the Season and, outside of their appearances as host of a Social Light Event, cannot be found today since they are no longer present in the game. The Ultimate Guide offered a Belonging Ultimate Pendant and a 
Belonging Ultimate Bonfire for Season Pass holders.
